THE FIJIAN FASHION FESTIVAL
Bula Vinaka, Namaste, Noa’ia, Asalam A Waleikum and Greetings from the Fijian Fashion Festival, Fiji’s first independent, not-for profit fashion industry platform.
The Fijian Fashion Festival is an initiative of the Fashion Council of Fiji, bringing together the best fashion minds from all eras of our industry to create a truly world class platform which will be a driver for growth in our industry.
The goal of the festival is to support the growth of fashion SMEs by providing a platform that connects you, the designer and fashion business operator, directly to existing markets that have appreciation for what you are expressing.
The trustees of the Festival are well known members of the fashion industry and broader business community including Chairperson of the Fashion Council of Fiji and Entrepreneur, Faraz Ali, Manager of Council Business for FCF; Fashion Designer and long time Business Woman, Carolyn Ah Koy; and Vice Chairperson, Luxury Fashion Designer, and Business Woman, Rachel Fairfax. This team of passionate industry operators is supported by Event Manager extraordinaire, Sydel Whippy.
With a wealth of experience and contacts, the trustees have committed themselves to the Fashion Council of Fiji’s ultimate goal to establish Suva as the global centre for Pacific fashion, and the Festival is central to this goal. The Festival will bring you live streamed events and an electronic platform, connecting you directly to your market wherever they may be in the world. The feed will also be streamed to fashion influencers and targeted boutique owners who are interested in contemporary Pacific fashion and design.
For the first time in Fiji, the Fijian Fashion Festival will feature three separate runways in various locations around the Grand Pacific Hotel. The Runway, in the Britannia ballroom pre-function area for the group shows, The Skyway, the second floor balcony of the GPH’s main heritage building for the individual shows and The Waterway, the pool area, for the resort and swimwear shows. The calendar will also include two full days of individual designer shows which will allow designers with more established clientele’s an opportunity to connect with them from a runway that has been designed to reflect their brand and creative vision.
During the Festival, a Design Mall is featured: a lively trade space within the venue for broader SMEs in the Creative Industries to display their products and services. Designers can sell their latest collection fresh off the runway, live entertainment from local artists, and food. The Design-Mall is free and open to the public for the duration of the Festival.
Last year, the Festival partnered with The Loloma Foundation as official charity partners, a charity organization providing sustainable medical, dental and infrastructure support to South Pacific rural communities, and will continue to support them this year.
We believe it is time for a change, to deliver what we promise, and that is a global stage right here in the heart of Suva. We want you to partner with us to deliver to Fiji, the Pacific and the world, the best fashion show that has ever happened in our region.
